Nisga'a Lisims Government declares State of Local Emergency to prevent spread of COVID-19


The Executive Council of the Nisga'a Lisims Government has announced that as of yesterday and lasting through until the 19th of January that a State of Local Emergency is in Place, as the communities of the Nass Valley look to control the Spread of COVID - 19.

President Eva Clayton outlined how the Executive Council was acting on guidance from medical professionals as testing continues to show clusters of the coronavirus in the Nass Valley.

"We have heard from our medical health professionals that the virus is not moving, people are moving ... We need to remain still to stop the spread of COVID-19 in our communities."



Among some of the measures that residents of the Nass should take note of include:


The decision to implement the Local State of Emergency, which could be extended on the 19th of January, comes following the release of Testing results in the region.
