| The prime real estate for political signage is staring to fill up at the Prince Rupert Court House as Councillor Barry Cunningham biomes the latest to raise a sign as part of his renewed quest for Council seat |
Incumbent Barry Cunningham has put up his first campaign sign and taken to his Social media stream today to announce his candidacy for the 2022 Municipal election, Mr. Cunningham looking for a return to the Council chamber by seeking a full third term of office.
He first was elected as the replacement councillor for Jennifer Rice in 2013 who had moved on to Provincial politics leaving one year in her term to serve.
He secured his place for a full term in 2014 and 2018, election campaigns where he gained high numbers of votes as voters responded to his themes. Though the reduced volume of voters in the most recent election did see some reduction in his vote totals.

That 2018 election delivered Prince Rupert an all male cast, for the four years to follow, something which as we noted this morning may change once the votes come in on October 15th as the nomination list fills out and more entrants join the race.
So far Councillor Cunningham's campaign presentation features his sign and not much more, with his Facebook page chronicling today's sign raising as he launches his quest for a third full term in office.
Nomination packages for the 2022 election must be handed in to City Hall by 4 PM tomorrow, following which we'll have a much clearer picture as to who is contesting what race for the October 15th vote.
