It's been a busy few days for members of the Port Edward Volunteer Fire Department, with the members at the Fire Hall playing host to the annual Harley Riders Toy Run over the weekend, serving up some fuel for the road for those that participated in the popular event.

As we outlined on Saturday, Port Edward was the first stop on the route for the Harley Riders after they left the Grenville Court starting line, and in addition to the welcome rest stop for the Riders, the Port Edward members provided a financial donation to the cause as well.

The Port Edward Firefighters have shared some video through their Social media page of the Riders as they travelled through the community twenty minutes down Highway 16.

The final tally has yet to come in, but so far the total raised is just over the 10,000 dollar mark from the more than 100 riders taking part. The money collected is destined for the Salvation Army's Christmas efforts in both Prince Rupert and Port Edward.

Once the hospitality was complete, it was back to work, with the Port Edward firefighters getting in some training in the sun of the weekend. More on their training session, along with additional photos and other notes from the District Fire hall can be reviewed here
