Signs of progress towards new Jehovah Witness Hall adjacent to Civic Centre

An area at the north end of the Civic Centre parking lot has now been fenced
off, marking the proposed area of development for a new
Jehovah Witness Hall sometime in the future

With the former home for the Prince Rupert area's Jehovah Witnesses recently cleared and ready for prep work for the new RCMP detachment, some of the attention for the public now heads down McBride Street and the new location for the next Jehovah Witness Hall

In recent days, the area of land that was part of the sale and swap between the Congregation and the city of Prince Rupert has seen some fencing go up.

From Kingdom Hall to vacant lot, the corner of McBride
and First Avenue East is now ready for site preparation for
the new RCMP detachment in Prince Rupert.

The land swap and sale was announced in October of 2020, bringing an end to the long running search for a suitable site for the new RCMP detachment, which will be located at McBride and Third Avenue East.

City Council approved the Loan Request for the major civic project in June of this year, the most recent notes on the process ahead noted that a geo technical assessment had been completed, with the  finalizing of the design process now underway.

The City hopes to have the new detachment under construction by the end of 2022 or early 2023, with a rezoning and permitting process for the site still to come before the shovels hit the ground.

So far, there is no indication from the Jehovah Witness congregation as to their timeline for the new hall at McBride and Ninth Street West.
