Officials with the All Native Basketball Tournament organization have confirmed their plans to return the one week of basketball and cultural gatherings in Prince Rupert to its traditional spot on the calendar of February.
The final announcement to the topic was delivered through the ANBT Social Media Stream on Thursday, setting the week of February 12th to 18th as Tournament week in Prince Rupert.
The decision of the February return has spurred on a bit of conversation following the announcement, with some of the participants and fans having found that the 2022 edition later in the Spring worked better for them and made for easier travel arrangements.
Others however, indicated a preference for the long standing February dates of the past.
You can explore how the conversation is going here.
In May of this year, the ANBT committee announced that The Laxgalts'ap Cultural Dancers will be the group to open the 2023 event in the Russel Gamble Gymnasium at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.
At that time they also announced that the Gitxsan Nation will have the honours for the 2024 edition.
You can keep up with notes through the fall on the way to the February tournament from the ANBT Social Media Stream.
As we have in past years, we've started an archive page for the popular annual event in Prince Rupert, notes from announcements to come and other items of interest on the Tournament can be explored here.
