As we get closer to the end of the month and the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation many communities across the Northwest are marking the day in a number of ways, with the community of Lax Kw'alaams set to host a three day event of remembrance and honour.
The three days of Feasting, Stories, Crafts and Entertainment are all part of the community plans in "Welcoming Home our Survivors" and offer an opportunity for residents of Lax Kw'alaams to honour and welcome home residential school survivors and to recognize those that did not make it home.

Around the Northwest, both Terrace and Kitimat have outlined some of their plans towards Reconciliation and commemoration of the September 30th Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
We made note of some of the Terrace plans earlier this month, while Kitimat noted of their own raising of the Orange Flag of Reconciliation from earlier this month.
Smithers has also used its social media feed to keep residents up to date on events on Reconciliation themes in that community.
As we head towards the end of the month, Prince Rupert City Council has not as of yet, indicated what, if any, initiatives that they may have to share as part of any community observance of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
Residents should keep an eye on the City's Social Media stream to watch for any news as we get closer to September 30th.
