Coast Mountain College negotiations find success in first stage of discussions

The Province of British Columbia has reported some success when it comes to labour negotiations currently underway with the post secondary sector.

Union negotiators for Coast Mountain College reached a tentative agreement with the government under the Support Staff Multi-Employer Table, which is part of the province's Shared Recovery Mandate.

Those talks focused on mostly provincial themes and Coast Mountain College was one of seven institutions to sign on to the tentative agreement on Monday.

The announcement of the status of negotiations coming through this information release from the Province.

The focus in the Northwest will now shift towards local issues at the various campus locations for Coast Mountain College with negotiations to continue forward on those elements towards a final agreement.

There has been no information revealed to date by either Coast Mountain College or the union as to what some of the local issues may be, or how long it may be towards securing a full agreement.

Any agreement reached would have to be ratified by the Coast Mountain College staff union membership.
