Friday night fire brings 10 fire fighters in response in Prince Rupert



A fire call just before the midnight hour on Friday, brought a strong response from the Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue department attending to a residential fire on the city's east side.

Upon arrival at the scene on the 1200 block of Eighth Avenue East, the first company observed smoke coming from the first floor of the two storey structure, the fire burning in the area of the home and the kitchen area.

Once extinguished, crews then began the ventilation process using fans to clear the home, PRFD officials say that the fire was limited to a portion of the kitchen and smoke damage was contained to the first floor.

10 firefighters attended to the call, no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.

The Prince Rupert Fire/Rescue Department is reminding residents to remember to test smoke alarms regularly to ensure that they are operational.
