Pond campaign marks anniversary of Fairview Container Port Opening, expands on election themes

Herb Pond the former Mayor of Prince Rupert, who would like to hold the title once again, celebrated a key moment in the repurposing of port facilities in Prince Rupert. 

The candidate using his Election campaign social media stream to share notes and his remembrance on the day that the Fairview Container Terminal opened, a date of September 12th which he shares when it comes to birthday celebrations, though his timeline on the calendar runs a wee bit longer than fifteen years.

The Grand Opening of 2007 was an event which really did herald the prospect of improving economic conditions for the community and a new industry to shape the future for the region. 

As its part of his campaign presentation the candidate makes note of sense of the day, as then Port President and CEO and President Don Krusel  and a collection of guests introduced the key industrial shift that would shape the future of the new gateway to the Pacific.

Mr. Pond then shifts his focus from the past to the future in his message from Monday, once again offering his endorsement of the last eight years of council's work. 

Along with his hope to be elected once again to the Mayor's Chair, in order to carry through on that blue print, noting how Mayor Lee Brain's 2030 Vision plan must be "brought from the shelf to shovel".

A significant portion of the notes relate to housing, something which the current council and those of the past have struggled a fair bit to actually deliver on, with past housing proposals long since memories and so far few new housing starts to show for all the council discussion.

Something the candidate may want to expand on as the campaign moves forward as to how he may resolve that significant stumbling block for community growth.
