Kamloops Blazers and Devin Oakes continue the WHL ride

The Kamloops Blazers will continue on in their march towards the Memorial Cup after a victory on Wednesday night that sends them to the WHL Western Final.

The Blazers won their first two rounds of the WHL playoffs defeating the Victoria Royals in six games and most recently sweeping the Kelowna Rockets in four straight games.

With their victories the Blazers  now head for Portland and a best of seven game showdown against the Portland Winter Hawks starting on Friday April 19th.

As we outlined on the blog last month, Prince Rupert's Devin Oakes was called up to the WHL squad just prior to the opening game of the Victoria season. Since the call up, he has seen ice time along the way and while not the volume of the top line players, the PRMHA grad has been making contributions to the Blazers quest for a Memorial Cup berth.

You can review his stats thus far after two series from the Blazers website, to track the Blazers path so far, you can review the full schedule for the WHL playoffs here, while the schedule for the Blazers next round can be found below.
