Last Monday was Book Review night in Prince Rupert, as City Council settled in with a good book and bit of discussion.
As part of the most recent Council session, the City's Financial Officer, Corinne Bomben provided an overview of the City's Annual Report, a document released to the public last week and now available at City hall and posted as well to the City's website for review and potential comment.
The 68 page document contains biographies of the Mayor and Council members, a breakdown on how the City is governed and a review of the various departments that make up the city's municipal structure.
Among some of the interesting items of note are a comparison scorecard of the City's Strategic Plan Goals and the Success rate of those projects and Civic Accomplishments.
Also included in the Annual report are a number of Audited Financial Statements for the City.
Council Members offered praise following Ms. Bomben's short background report on the document
complimenting the CFO and her staff in their preparation of the report.
As well, the Mayor and Council members recommended that residents take some time to go over the publication in order to get a better understanding of the various departments and what they do to keep the city running.
As required as part of the process of approving the report through the Community Charter, residents will have opportunity to make comment on the finished document at the June 23rd meeting.
The online version of the most recent Annual Report can be found here.
You can review Ms. Bomben's presentation from the City's Video Archive, her introduction of the report begins at the 55 minute mark.
