With less than 11 days to go until this years Seafest celebrations kick off, the Prince Rupert Special Events Society has issued a call for volunteers.
As we outlined on our City Council Timeline of Monday, the Mayor highlighted the looming shortage of required volunteers for a number of Seafest events as part of his Mayor's review at the end of last weeks Council session.
During his short review of the requirements from Special Events he highlighted that Volunteers are required for such tasks as manning barricades, parade assistance, game attendance, sanitation and set up and take down of tents, to name a a few of the many tasks required to make the annual festival the success that it has become.
Over the last few years, rounding up a core group of dedicated volunteers has been a challenge for organizers, with fewer and fewer residents taking up the example of the past, when larger groups of civic minded residents shared in the workload.
Those that can lend a hand, are asked to contact the Special Events Society at 250-624-9118
Seafest runs from Friday June 13 through to Sunday June 15th, with a wide range of events planned for the three day festival.
Background on the 2014 edition of Seafest can be found from the Special Events Society website.
