City Council Preview, Monday, October 5, 2015

With a week behind them used to recuperate from a busy September, Prince Rupert City Council returns to their regular Council session schedule tonight, with what would appear to be a fairly light workload for the evening ahead.

For the most part Council will be reviewing a pair of applications for Development Variations, as well as to receive a Report from the Chief Financial Officer and to put in motion the 2015 Permissive Property Tax Exemption Bylaw.

As well, Council will hold a discussion on the latest efforts from the Housing committee.

And while not on the agenda, if past years are an indication, those Council members that attended the UBCM gathering in Vancouver might be inclined to share some of their thoughts from their five days of discussions with other municipal leaders and those from the provincial government.

The full review of the evening ahead can be found from the Regular Council Agenda for October 5, 2015

Prior to the Regular Council session, Council members will conduct a Closed Session at 5 PM, where they will hold discussions related to two topics that Council believes requires the exclusion of the public :

personal information about an identifiable individual who holds or is being considered for a position as an officer, employee or agent of the municipality or another position appointed by the municipality;

the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements, if the council considers that disclosure could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality;

and

 negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.

Below we'll highlight the different elements of this evenings work from the Regular session Agenda, for further background on each item, the page number from the Agenda is listed in red.
