Salvation Army Thrift Store to re-open after renovations

What is becoming a very competitive commercial scene when it comes to second hand items in the city has one of Prince Rupert's long time Thrift stores closed for the first few weeks of this month, making for a break in daytime routines for many city shoppers as the Salvation Army moves forward with some renovations to the Third Avenue West Thrift Store location just beside the old Totem Theatre.

A sign in the window of the Thrift Store notes that the store will remain closed until next week, with a store re-opening and Celebration of the new look set to take place on Wednesday the 14th with customers invited to drop in for coffee and cake.

While the renovations have been taking place, the Salvation Army Thrift Store has continued to take donations byway of its back door.

The downtown store is set to mark its tenth year in its present location and since that opening Prince Rupert has seen a number of other commercial operations fill up other store fronts along the Third Avenue shopping corridor.

Those locations as well as other establishments through the downtown core are making the second hand marketplace one of the growing niche areas for Prince Rupert's business footprint.
