Minor Basketball Registration continues through to September 10

Minor Basketball is getting ready to
launch another season at the Russell
Gamble Gymnasium in Prince Rupert
One of the more popular of fall activities is gearing up for another season of high energy hoops in the city, as the Prince Rupert Minor Basketball Association brings its registration period to an end on Saturday.

The Association has been hosting its registration drive this week in the Raven Room of the Civic Centre complex, with previous registration nights held on September 6th and 8th.

Saturday's registration opportunity takes place from 6 until 8 PM.

The PRMBA is expanding its age categories for the 2016-17 with the introduction of a league for Grade 11 and 12 students as part of the various division lineups that take Rupert's hoop fans from the fundamentals of the early years to the more competitive nature of the teens.

In addition to the new opportunity for senior year high school students, the PRMBA operates divisions ranging from Grades 3/4, along with divisions for Grades 5/6, and 7/8, as well as 9/10.

Registration fees are 70 dollars per participant, an increase that the PRMBA notes is required owing to an increase in Gym Fees at the Russell Gamble Gym at the Civic Centre.

Included in the registration for this years season is a Two day Coaching and Player  Development Basketball Camp set for September 16th and 18th hosted by Shawnee Harle, a former Rupert resident and coach of the recent Women's Olympic basketball team that competed in Rio de Janeiro.

Some background on that two day camp can be reviewed below (click to expand):

Once registration is complete the PRMBA will begin to assemble the rosters for the year ahead and contact parents/guardians to let them know when their youngsters are to report for practices and games.
