Federal Government approves Pacific NorthWest LNG project with 190 conditions

A trio of Federal Cabinet Ministers joined Premier Christy Clark today to deliver the much anticipated Federal decision on the proposed Pacific NorthWest LNG Terminal project for Lelu Island, providing Federal approval with 190 legally binding conditions in place.

The fate of the major investment in the North Coast and British Columbia is now turned over to the Malaysian energy company Petronas for further study, the international energy giant had previously noted in August that once a Federal decision was received they would assess the current conditions for a Final Investment Decision and any potential launch of the project.

While we work on a full overview of today's announcement for the Blog for tomorrow, here is the Federal Announcement for your review.

For those with no plans tonight and some time on their hands, the full overview of the 190 conditions can be examined from this file.

You can also dig into our archive pages for an extended look at the path to today's affirmative approval for a project which could have a significant impact on the entire Northwest.
