Prince Rupert's highly acclaimed Community Band is ready to launch into the fall with a membership drive, seeking new members to step into the Peter Witherly Community Music Studio and share their talents with current members of the ensemble.

The Community Band offers the opportunity for those lapsed musicians in town to dig deep into their closets and find those long buried instruments, with a few sessions witht he band it shouldn't be long before they get their musical vibe back on again.

The Community Band also notes that those that they can also lend a hand for those that may have an interest in the group but don't have an instrument at the moment.

The first practice is set for Monday September 12th at the Music Studio located at Charles Hays Secondary School, the studio is the building found at the front of the school to the right of Rainbow market.

The Peter Witherly Community Music Studio is one of a number of locations in the city that highlight the community's dedication to the arts. Funding for the project came through the efforts of the Community Band members, as well as with the financial assistance of the Prince Rupert Port Authority Community Investment Fund, Ridley Terminals, the Government of BC, Crest Hotel, Prince Rupert Rotary Club and Northern Savings Credit Union.

Some background on how that particular space came to be can be reviewed here.
