Rock slide leaves Highway 16 east of New Hazelton reduced to one lane

Holiday travel on this last long weekend of the summer is proving to be a challenge for those looking to travel east-west along Highway 16 through the New Hazelton area.

Drive BC had issued a Road Advisory earlier today for that region, noting that the Highway had been closed in the area due to rocks on the road, with no detour available travellers will have to wait until the next update for further details as to when the highway may reopen.

At noon hour the status had changed to reduced flow, with a single lane of alternating traffic in place, with delays of 20 minutes advised for those travelling through the region.

You can get further updates from the Drive BC Website or twitter feed.
