SD52 to put Carbon Neutral money towards Conrad Elementary boiler project

Conrad Elementary is in line for a
new boiler as part of  provincial funding
program announced this week
Just in time for back to school the Province of British Columbia has released its listings for green investments and School District 52 is among those in the province that will be receiving money for required upgrades.

The money part of the Ministry of Education's Carbon Neutral Capital program will deliver close to 5 million dollars province wide for energy efficient programs, mainly directed towards heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems; windows, lighting and electrical systems or mechanical systems including boiler replacements.

It's the last item of that list that was of interest to SD52 with the Prince Rupert school district to receive $130,000 for a boiler replacement at Conrad Elementary school on the city's east side.

That is the only project for Prince Rupert that was listed by the province to receive money under the current release of money for upgrades.

You can find more information on the program here, more background on School District 52 items can be reviewed on our archive page here.
