Curling Season heats up with two events for January at Prince Rupert Curling Club

The rocks will be roaring down the ice  with increased frequency this month at the Curling Club at Seal Cove, as the Prince Rupert Curling Club plays host to two events to launch the 2017 portion of the Curling season.

This weekend the Club is hosting the New Beers Resolution Curling Challenge an opportunity for new curlers to check out the sport and for current curlers to get in a weekend of curling fun in a less competitive atmosphere.

Admission to the Saturday event is by donation and those that take in the curling are in the running for some door prizes and the 50/50 draw.

Our notes on the weekend ahead can be found from our blog item of December here.

Later in the month it's time for the Fishermen's Sturling Spiel set for Saturday, January 21st, that event features three games with 2 person teams taking part in the six end competition, along with a dinner, with the finals in four flights to take place in the evening.

The Sturling Spiel registration fee is 60 dollars per team and includes the dinner.

A look at the rules for the day of curling can be found below:

The event has proven to be one of the more popular dates on the local curling scene so signing up early is suggested to ensure a spot on the ice.

The deadline for applications for the Fishermen's Sturling Spiel is Wednesday, January 18th.

More information on the Fishermen's Sturling event as well as other items of note from the Prince Rupert Curling Club can be explored from the Club's Facebook Page.
