Winter Storm Watch issued for North Coast Inland areas

Update: Winter Storm Watch upgraded to Winter Storm Warning (see details here)

Should there be a trip to the east in your plans for Friday, keeping track of the Drive BC listings and area highway cameras might be an idea for your pre-trip planning.

Environment Canada has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Terrace/Kitimat, Stewart and points east as a moist Pacific weather system is about to run into linger Arctic air in the inland regions.

It's anticipated that Terrace and Kitimat will see from 10 to 20 cm of snow through Friday and into Satruday, while Stewart is set to receive 25 or more centimetres.

For the coastal region of the North Coast, the oncoming precipitation will be a rain and wind event, providing a significant break from the cold temperatures of the last month. Friday's High is anticipated to be five above, with the forecast calling for highs of 8 into the middle of next week.

You can check for updates on the weather notices from the Environment Canada website here.
