The recent success for both the Junior and Senior Rainmaker Boys basketball teams has been given its props from the observers of the game in the south.
Both Charles Hays programs moved up the listings from the weekly rankings released on Wednesday, making for a steady climb towards the top as the teams head into the heart of the high school basketball season.
Mel Bishop's Senior Boys squad claimed the Pitt Meadows Air Show title two weeks ago, and from that hard work on the court they now shift upwards one spot from last week, placing them into sixth place overall in AAA Basketball in BC.
The upward momentum signals a growing awareness of the calibre of basketball found in the Northwest, with the Rainmakers the only team north of Kamloops to stick in the Top Ten so far this year.
The Senior Boys Rainmakers climb one more spot for January, with the Triple A Basketball rankings of January 25th. |
The Junior Boys are also gaining more and more attention as each week passes by, Kevin Sawka's team is currently holding down the seventh spot heading towards the end of January, a significant jump two spots from their previous ranking of 9th at the start of the month.
Much like the Senior team, the Junior Rainmakers are the only team outside of the Lower Mainland or Okanagan in the top ten, an impressive achievement considering the amount of attention that the Vancouver area teams receive on a weekly basis in the southern media.
Another jump shot for the Junior Boys, with the CHSS team now ranked at number 7 in the province in the January 25th listings |
You can follow the path of the 2016-17 season for both teams through the CHSS Twitter feed, which features updates, photos and videos of recent play for both Boys and Girls athletics at the school.
