Emergency Support Services to offer free Site Management Course Saturday

An opportunity to learn the skills to help out during times of emergency is coming up this weekend as the city's Emergency Support Services program, teams up with the Justice Institute of British Columbia for a Day long Site Management course.

Taking place on Saturday from 8:30 to 4:30 at the Civic Centre, the program is hosted by the Prince Rupert Recreation Department.

The day of instruction will offer the chance to learn about roles and responsibilities of the Emergency Social Services management team. The course is designed to provide participants with an opportunity to perform relevant activities and processes.

Some of the roles that participants will learn more about are the function of the ESS management team, including Reception Centre, Group Lodging Mangers, Information delivery,  as well as Liaison and Safety office functions.

The program also looks at planning, logistics and Financial considerations.

There is a pre-requisite for the program, listed as EMRG 1610 which is available online
