Community Policing to be the focus for discussion for Lax Kw'alaams Thursday

Residents of Lax Kw'alaams will have an opportunity to learn more about how the RCMP approaches community policing, with an information session coming up at the Elders Lodge on Thursday.

Members of the RCMP and Terrace Bedard-Thompson will be providing some background on the First Nations Policing Program, as well as to review discussions with Lax Kw'alaams representatives about some of the key elements of the Tri-Partite Police Service Agreement for the community.

Some of the areas that will be up for discussion on Thursday include:

The Community Consultative Group
The Letter of Expectations
The Monthly RCMP reports

Also to be reviewed will be the overall relationship between the FNPP officers and the communities that they serve, as well as a look at the delivery of dedicated/enhanced police services to CTA communities.

As part of the information session, the RCMP's members that are part of the First Nations Policing Program in the community will also be in attendance.

The evening starts at 7 PM at the Elder's Lodge in the Recreation Centre.
