Cannery Road Race preparations lead up to Saturday's Port Edward event

The North Coast running season is about to wind down as we head towards fall and one of the final trots down the road comes up this Saturday morning with the Northern View/Rupert Runners/District of Port Edward sponsored Cannery Road Race.

This years event features three elements:

The Kids Run which is a 1km fun run starting at 9:30 AM

The Half Marathon and 10km walk which has at 9AM start time

5km, 10km runs and 5 km walk, with 10 AM the designated start time for those options.

The starting point for the Cannery Road Race is the North Pacific Cannery Historical Site in Port Edward, with the three routes winding their way along the highway towards and into the town site.

As organizers have in the past, the call for volunteers has been issued, this year out of the Northern View office on Fraser Street, with Race Director Shannon Lough taking charge of the event and looking for help for a number of race positions.

You can contact Ms. Lough at 250-624-8088 to lend a hand or learn more about Saturday's event.

The full race program is available on the Rupert Runners website, including maps of the various events and more registration information related to the Saturday event.

You can also find updates on the run up to the big run, through the Rupert Runners Facebook page.
