Blog Watching: Week ending October, 7, 2018

The era of LNG development has arrived in the Northwest making for the dominant story of the news flow of the region this past week.

And while just a few years ago all eyes were focused on the Prince Rupert area, as the NDP government moves the previous planning of the Liberals forward, it will be Kitimat that will be the first Northwest community to host a terminal development

Politics also held much of the spotlight over the last seven days, with the eight candidates for Prince Rupert City Council taking part in a community election forum at the Lester Centre on Monday.

In the week ahead, it will be the turn of the School Board candidates, with our notes on the plans for the October 11th forum at Javadotcup also making for a strong audience this week.

A pair of initiatives from Prince Rupert City council also attracted much interest through the week, with our look at the City's plan for cannabis legalization gaining  a significant amount of attention, as did our review of the city's announcement that the new Off Leash Dog Park at McKay and Kootenay has been declared Open for use by the public.

However, the story which attracted the most interest through the week, brings the LNG files back into the spotlight across the Northwest, that as Kitimat's Council and residents prepare for the massive change that will come their way as the LNG Canada development moves into its construction phase.
