Colder temperatures and BC Hydro equipment in Prince Rupert are proving not to be a good match this week, with the hydro service suffering its second power outage in two days last night.
The latest incident took place last evening just before 8:30 where some areas of the downtown and west side of the city saw the lights go out, destined not to return until repairs were completed just before 10:30, affecting slightly more than 1,000 residents.
It followed on the heels of a power outage mid-day Monday, December 3rd which affected areas of the city west of the Yellowhead Industrial Park, ironically near the old BC Hydro compound on Highway 16, that two and half hour outage affected close to 1,000 in pockets of the city.
In both cases equipment failure was listed as the cause.
