Further delays for BC Ferries in wake of weekend storms

Another delay for the Northern Expedition with the return
to regular service now planned for Tuesday morning

The extreme marine weather of the weekend is making a bit of a mess of the BC Ferries scheduling so far this week, with their original plan to return the Northern Expedition to service today, now deferred to Tuesday, with the Ferry Service issuing their latest Service Notice earlier today.

Citing adverse weather conditions, the new departure time from Port Hardy terminal is now set for  6 AM on Tuesday, a delay which will have a domino effect on transits between Haida Gwaii and Prince Rupert as well.

The series of weekend storms have had particularly strong impact on both Haida Gwaii and along the eastern side of Vancouver Island as well as the Central Coast, with hurricane forces winds at times rocking those regions.

The Ferry Service will be providing an updated schedule later this morning, outlining the estimated times for departures and arrivals in Prince Rupert and Skidegate. Once it is posted we'll add it our notes above for future reference.
