With First place in their sights; Rampage return to the road for two in two nights

Should they find the range  this is a possible four point weekend for the Prince Rupert Ramapge with two games on their CIHL day planner for Friday and Saturday.

Tonight the Rhinos rumble into Kitimat and an 8PM contest with the Ice Demons, the game a rematch from last weekend when the Rampage topped the Kitimat squad 7 to 2 at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre.

Saturday they head for Terrace, for a Saturday night showdown with the River Kings that will see the Rampage looking to avenge a November loss just before Remembrance Day, when the Terrace squad topped the locals 4-3.

If the Rampage can sweep the weekend they may find themselves back on top, or at least tied with Williams Lake for first place over the Christmas period, with the Stampeders and Quesnel match up on Saturday the only other game on the CIHL schedule this weekend.

The potential four points will be huge for the team, with this weekend making for  the final game before the what will be a month long Christmas/New Years break, with the team not destined to see action again until January 18th.

While the Rampage enjoy that extended rest period their competitors above and below in the standings will be busy from December 29th to January 13th, seven games which could re-arrange the standings significantly before the Rampage return to action.

The mid January return for Prince Rupert will set the stage for the scramble to the finish line for the CIHL regular season which wraps up on Sunday, January 27th.

The weekend action ahead also provides an opportunity for a few of the Rampage members to climb the scoring listings before the break.

Judd Repole is but five points away from the top of the Scoring race heading in tonight's action, Repole who is currently tied for third in the race, has 6 goals and 13 assists for 19 points.

Captain Jared Meers isn't that far off the pace, holding down eight spot at the moment with 16 points, Tyler Ostrom and Cole Atchison are just a few spots behind with 14 and 13 points respectively.

Key to the success for the team on the weekend will be holding to their strong defensive play of the season so far which has them matching the Terrace River Kings in the Goals Against category.

Both teams have surrendered only 44 goals on the season so far, though the River Kings have two games in hand to improve on those stats.

Heading towards Christmas the team is also hosting a Team Raffle with tickets towards three prizes, the first a Cash prize of $2,500 now available, you can learn more on how to get your entries in through the team's Facebook post this week.

The prize draws will take place at the Rampage New Year's Eve Party which takes place at the Nisga'a Hall December 31st.

Both tonight's match up in Kitimat and that of Terrace tomorrow night will be broadcast through CityWest Community Channel 10/310. They mark the final two games of the original broadcast schedule of eight for 2018.
