Season of Sharing in full swing in Prince Rupert

The Annual  Red Shield Campaign for the holidays is underway for the Prince Rupert Salvation Army, with the kettle campaign having made its way to key locations across the city over the last week, with volunteers ready to accept your donation towards the work of the organization through this holiday season.

The second stage of their annual call to the community has started to arrive in your mailbox, with Lieutenant Sabrina Silvey sending the glad tidings of the season on behalf of the Salvation Army, while outlining some of the need in the community not only over the Christmas period, but on a year round basis.

Her letter provides a bit of background as to how the Salvation Army stretches those donation dollars, with the Christmas campaign going towards grocery cards and toys for the less fortunate in the region, with all of the donations received staying in the community.

When your letter arrives to your home, included in the package is a return envelope which you can forward your donation in towards the Grenville Court offices.

Among the programs that the Salvation Army operates on a year round basis is the community Food Bank and a warm meal program through their Soup Kitchen which operates in the morning and lunch hour period.

You can also drop into the Grenville Court location and offer up a gift of your time as well as some financial generosity at this most busy time of the year for the social service agency that continues to do impressive and much needed work in the community.
