Environment Canada has issued a WIND WARNING for Haida Gwaii and the North Coast. |
A fast approaching Low Pressure Centre is making its path towards Haida Gwaii and the North Coast for this afternoon and evening, with Environment Canada issuing a Wind Warning for the region at mid morning today.
The strongest of the westerly winds will be in excess of 90 - 100 km/h and will develop early this evening, they should ease off after the midnight hours. The winds will most impact on northern Haida Gwaii and the Northern portions of the North Coast.
Along with the wind will come rain through the afternoon, evening and overnight period.
With the Weather Advisory also comes a Marine Weather warning for the waters of Haida Gwaii and the North Coast, with a Storm Warning now in effect for Hecate Strait, with winds of 50 knots this afternoon and seas building up to 4 metres through the day.
Those travelling inland tonight or overnight, should keep an eye on the Drive BC Listings or twitter feed for any updates of note on road conditions.
Should there be changes towards the forecast, we will provide updates as warranted.
