Nation2Nation forum set to bring wide cross section of speakers to Terrace for three day conference

The 2019 edition of the Nation2Nation forum is fast approaching, with the Thornhill Community Centre set to be the venue for three days of workshops, speeches and presentations on the theme of the Reality of Doing Business with First Nations.

Taking place in Terrace from October 23rd to 25th, the three day forum provides for a cross section of politicians, First Nation and business leaders, with a very engaging list of themes to be explored through the event.

Among those making the trip to Terrace for the event will be MLA's Jennifer Rice, Doug Donaldson and Ellis Ross, all scheduled to speak on the final day to cover a number of topics.

Day One will feature a keynote address from Maynard Angus, Manager of Indigenous Relations with the Port of Prince Rupert, who will provide delegates with a overview of the growth ahead for the Port of Prince Rupert.

A number of panel discussions then take place through the event, exploring themes such as the future for Indigenous Youth and community workforce, Bridging the gap between cultural awareness and industry and Increasing First Nation participation in the BC economy.

Considering Terrace's proximity to the growing LNG opportunities around Kitimat, a good portion of the focus and speakers involved will be reviewing themes related to the potential for LNG development in that area of the Northwest.

Mineral and other resource development opportunities are also on the agenda for the three day conference.

First Nations leaders from across the region will also be hosting a range of discussion themes, reviewing some key issues of note when it comes to themes of business development in their territories.

Prince Rupert Mayor Lee Brain will participate in a Panel Discussion on the final day, with Mr. Brain joining fellow local politicians Brian Downie of Terrace and Phil Germuth of Kitimat speaking to the theme of working together to manage the impacts of growth.

The Nation2Nation forum is once again being organzied by Lisa Mueller, you can learn more about the Agenda for the three days in Terrace here.
