Rampage head to the road before month long hiatus

It may be a little early in the year for what makes for a key road trip, but with the Prince Rupert Rampage facing a one month break from CIHL action after this weekend, grabbing two points out Smithers on Saturday will be on the top of their minds as they hit the highway.

In a quirk of schedule making, the Rampage will find themselves to be box score watchers for the month of November, that as the Rhinos get a month off from the competitive battles of the league, something which could find them looking to make up some ground in the standings depending on the success of the other teams of the Western Division.

Those concerns however are off to the distance, with the immediate focus a trip to the Pond where the Smithers Steelheads will be looking to avenge their opening night loss they suffered at the Jim on September 21st.

Currently sitting atop the West Division, the Rampage will be looking to collect their fifth win of the season as they take to the ice for the 7PM start Saturday night.

Looking to set the pace for the Rhinos will be Judd Repole and Kory Movold, two Rhinos who hold down first and second spot in the scoring table so far in this early CIHL season.

Defensively, the Rampage are a stingy squad, surrendering only four goals in five games,  the blue line battalion holding back the attack while the tandem of Tomoki Yoshizawa and Devon Garrets shut the door to a parade of CIHL snipers since the September start.

Once they head back home from the Bulkley Valley the Rampage will await the end of November when the Kitimat Ice Demons come to town, fresh off their fist victory in two seasons last weekend which came at the expense of the Rampage.

While not looking ahead too far, that will be a date on the calendar that will capture the attention of the Prince Rupert squad, looking to adjust the balance in the win/loss columns.

To keep up with the Rampage follow the team through their Facebook page.
