The end of 2020 also saw the closure for Prince Rupert's MacCarthy GM dealership, with the lot at the Yellowhead centre car dealership on Chamberlin seeing its once large inventory of new and used cars long since having departed for destinations eastbound.
The Terrace based dealership announced it's plans to close its Prince Rupert operations in early December, a move that was lamented by many in the community and leaves residents with one less option for automotive sales and car repairs in an already challenging commercial environment.
The closure of the local dealership also put a number of Prince Rupert residents out of work, the latest members of the local workforce to feel the impact of the changing local economy.
