As of Today, travel for Lax Kw'alaams members is limited to Prince Rupert only, that after monitoring of ongoing COVID reports highlighted increases in the Terrace, Nass Valley and Kitsumkalum areas over the holidays.
As part of the new travel orders, Members from Prince Rupert are the only ones allowed to enter the Lax Kw'alaams community, something that applies for medical health professionals and contractors.
For those from outside the corridor, their request for transit will be assessed on an individual basis, with priority given for those providing essential services towards community infrastructure or safety.
Should members of the community travel beyond Prince Rupert under the 'patient travel' category, they will be required to isolation for 10 days and meet a number of benchmarks for health conditions.
Residents are also being encouraged to wear masks at all times while in the community.
The latest advisory is in place for the next two weeks and will be reviewed upon that expiry date.
