Highway 16 Now REOPENED between Exstew and Shames Mountain due to rockslide

Update 9:30 AM

Drive BC has announced that Highway 16 has reopened between Terrace and Prince Rupert, but to expect delays through the area of the Rock Slide from Extsew to Shames

The only road corridor between Terrace and Prince Rupert is CLOSED once again, with Drive BC reporting of another rockslide along Highway 16, this one located in an area between Exstew and Shames Mountain., approximately 23 kilometres west of Terrace.

The incident which took place in the overnight period was first reported just before 6AM


The update from the Ministry of Transportation from 8AM had no new details to share, with the next update on the situation to come at 9AM.

Late last month a large volume of rocks was deposited on the highway near Exchamsiks.
