They won't be moving on to the CIS playoff rounds for 2014, but for both the men's and women's program of the UNBC Timberwolves, the last weekend of their regular season was a rewarding one.
Both teams were in Calgary over last weekend to bring a wrap to their basketball ambitions and found success on the hardwood at Mount Royal.
The men's team split their weekend series with the Calgary based University, grabbing the two points on Friday on the strength of a 76 to 54 win. However Mount Royal bounced back on Saturday in convincing fashion taking the game to the Timberwolves with a 113-81 victory
On the women's side, UNBC defeated Mount Royal 86-79 on Saturday, making for a sweep of Mount Royal after a thrilling 51 to 49 victory of Friday night.
Prince Rupert's Sarah Robin played 33 minutes on Saturday night, collecting 15 points in the winning cause, finding her game after a struggle through the Friday night match up where she had 2 points for her 25 minutes of playing time.
The success of the final weekend however, provided only a moral victory with UNBC eliminated earlier in the month from the path to the CIS championships this year.
The women's team finished up the year with a 6 and 16 record. While the men had a final record on the year of 5 and 17.
