Council hears review of Prince Rupert Airport renovation projects to date

Prince Rupert City Council heard an update from the Mayor on the status of the major renovations projects currently under way at Prince Rupert airport.

As part of his Mayor's report of Monday evening, Mayor Mussallem reviewed some notes from the recent Prince Rupert Airport Board of Directors meeting.

During the course of his update, the Mayor provided details regarding the completion of the major work on the runway on Digby Island.

The Mayor also advised Council that proper drainage had been installed and  improvements to the apron areas of the airport were now complete as part of the outdoor aspect of the project.

Plans now turn towards remediation work on the access road that leads from the airport to the Digby Island ferry dock location.

As for the work on the terminal building, a new roof has been put in place, with the inside expansion and modernization work set to continue through 2014 and into 2015.
