North Coast residents once again will take to the streets this Sunday in celebration of the life of Terry Fox and as part of the annual fundraising event for the Terry Fox Foundation, which to date has raised over 650 million dollars for Cancer research.

This years event once again takes place with the help of Northern Savings Credit Union, from where the Terry Fox run will start, marking for the departure point as participants make their travels around the streets of the city.

Registration for the Prince Rupert event takes place at the Noon Hour at the Northern Savings Credit Union parking lot, with the Run/Walk to begin at 1 PM.

The Prince Rupert event features a five or kilometre course, a Community Barbecue will follow the event outside of the Credit Union, with prizes for the day to be handed out as part of the celebrations.

A look ahead to Sunday's event was offered up this week in the Northern View.

As it was for the Cannery Road Race of Saturday, weather conditions for Sunday's Terry Fox Run are proving to be quite favourable, with Environment Canada's Sunday forecast calling for Sunny skies and a comfortable running/walking temperature of 17 degrees.

Northern Savings is also involved with the Terry Fox Run on Haida Gwaii, with registration set for 10:30 AM at the Queen Charlotte Community Hall, that community Run/Walk starts at 11 AM.

You can learn more about the Terry Fox Foundation here, with links to the history of the foundation, Policies and Guidelines and Statements of Financials to name a few of the items of note.

Of interest for those participating in this Sunday's run, this item from the Globe and Mail, outlining how through research the cancer that took Terry Fox's life is now considered highly curable.

An indication as to the progress that is being made against Cancer and how the vision of the Canadian icon has contributed to that effort.
