City Council Preview: Monday, November 26, 2018

Council members return to the City Council Chamber this evening at the end of a three week break, marking the second official Council session for the newly elected council put in place following the October vote.

The night will feature the first Committee of the Whole for the new collective, as well as to provide for the first opportunity since August for those in the audience to ask questions of their elected officials.

A pair of presentations make for some of the COW work on the evening as well, prior to a return to the Regular Council session.

The Regular Session Agenda will put a good bit of its focus on the recently held community consultation with the public on the city's proposed cannabis retail regulations, with Council to receive two reports on that community event.

Council members will also review their list of Council appointments for 2019, announcing who in the community will be filing a range of positions for Committee and Board duties.

City Council members will also meet behind Closed Doors on Monday with a Special Closed Session planned for 5 PM, the Council membership citing two elements of the Community Charter for the closed session.

90.1 (a) personal information about an identifiable individual who holds or is being considered for a position as an officer, employee or agent of the municipality or another position appointed by the municipality;

and (k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.

You can review the Full Agenda Packages for the Regular Council Session and Committee of the Whole from the City's website here.
