Holding in Dock: Northern Expedition to wait out rough weather in Skidgate

With the Northern Expedition holding in port in Skidegate due to weather, the
Prince Rupert Terminal will be a fairly lonely place for much of the day

Adverse weather in Hecate Strait has put the sailing schedule for the Northern Expedition on hold, with the BC Ferry vessel holding in dock at Skidegate to wait out the storm brewing between Haida Gwaii and Prince Rupert.

In a Service Notice posted to the BC Ferries website, the Ferry Corporation notes that the forecast is for the winds to diminish later this afternoon, with a schedule update to follow.

The Marine Forecast currently has a Gale Warning in effect for Hecate Strait, with the winds expected to diminish to light Westerlies through the afternoon and into the evening.

Updates on the return to service for the sailing can be found through the BC Ferries website and twitter feed.

Update: BC Ferries advises that the Northern Expedition has departed Skidegate, with an anticipated arrival time at Fairview Bay Terminal in Prince Rupert of 7:45PM
