MP Nathan Cullen takes the Ridley Terminal Sale issue to Question Period

"Given what just happened to Rona workers, will the Prime Minister guarantee that not a single worker will lose their job at Ridley Terminals? Will he also promise that no foreign government will be allowed to buy this strategic asset?" -- Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP,  Nathan Cullen in the House of Commons during Wednesday's Question Period in Ottawa raising his concerns over the proposed sale of Ridley Terminals.

The plan to sell Ridley Terminals to private investors made its way to the bear pit forum that is the House of Commons Question Period on Wednesday, with Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Nathan Cullen bringing the issue up as part of his line of questions for the Prime Minister.

The theatre that is Question Period, is not one that actually seems to deliver concrete answers on the questions raised. The daily interrogation of the Government side of the House more of a rapid fire round of snappy one liners for the news clips later that day, verbal jabs that are parried by Ministers and in this case by the Prime Minister himself.

And Wednesday was no exception to that short theatrical experience, with Mr. Cullen also managing to squeeze in a dig on the Trans Mountain pipeline purchase and some recent news of job losses in the nations retail sector as part of his talking points on the day.

His focus on the North Coast aspect of the Government's plans was to make note of the plan to deliver a 10 percent share of the Terminal to the Lax Kw'alaams Band and Melakatla First Nation, while also seeking assurances for those who are employed at the Prince Rupert Terminal facility.

We outlined the nature of the Federal Government's Sale proposal on Monday and since word of the proposed sale plan was release, the NDP MP has made it a frequent theme for his social media feed as well as his parliamentary work.
