City asks residents to find work around in the area of Fulton and Sixth until mid September

There may be some temporary relief in place for travellers along
Sixth Avenue West and Fulton by this time next week

The long running road work currently underway at Fulton and Sixth may soon see an end, with the City of Prince Rupert providing an update on Friday that hints towards some temporary progress by the end of next week.

In their notes, the city advises that depending on the weather, the reopening of the street could be announced by September 11th, though in the short term, if you can, they would appreciate it if drivers avoided the intersection completely.

To assist motorists looking to get around the area, the City has provided a map which identifies the alternate routes away from the ongoing work.

As we noted in mid August, the project which began as water main project in April had  morphed into a number of other infrastructure issues by the summer, with the current work stated at the time as a temporary fix, with the city to readdress the larger issues in the future.

The request to avoid the area next week will make for some challenging navigation for those driving their youngsters to school on Tuesday and beyond, with the intersection as key transit point for access to both Annunciation and Ecole Roosevelt Park School.

More notes related to infrastructure concerns around the city can be explored here.
