Chamber of Commerce notes on closure of MacCarthy GM spurs on conversation of need to support local business

Monday's announcement by the ownership of MacCarthy GM that December would be the last month for their operations in Prince Rupert has served notice it seems that the community's business sector is still finding challenges from the local economic situation and the shifting purchasing patterns for local residents.

The MacCarthy GM Facebook post outlining their plans of retrenching to their Terrace location to serve the Northwest also gained a short observation from the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce, which noted of the need to work together to support the commercial sector in the community.

The post to the Chamber Facebook page has also launched a bit of a conversation on themes of supporting local business and the loss to community that the ongoing volume of local business closures is having.

You can review more themes from the Chamber's notes of Monday as they are posted from the Chamber page here.
