Post Christmas period brings jump of five COVID-19 cases reported for Prince Rupert area, with significant increases recorded for Terrace and the Nass Valley

The weekly release of Local Health Data related to COVID-19 highlights one of the largest jumps in cases in weekly reporting for Prince Rupert, with five cases recorded  for the week of December 27-January 2, 2021, which increases the Prince Rupert total case level to 20 reported cases since the start of the pandemic in January of 2020.

The BC Centre for Disease control only recently began sharing the data on a weekly basis culled from Local Health Authority reports, but this holiday period data does show that North Coast residents will need to rededicate their efforts towards the provincial Public Health measures in place.

Across the Northwest, the cases reported from December 27 to January 2 were as follows.

For the week the largest case reports were found in the Burns Lake and Terrace areas Nass Valley and Burns Lake regions.

Terrace -- 29
Nisga'a Region -- 24
Burns Lake -- 21
Smithers -- 20
Nechako -- 5
Kitimat -- 4
Upper Skeena -- 3
Haida Gwaii -- 1

The Snow Country-Stikine-Telegraph Creek area lists no cases of COVID from the week, the same result can be found for the Bella Coola Valley.
