The latest request for proposals from the City of Prince Rupert puts the focus on the city's aging bridge infrastructure, with Engineering Coordinator Richard Pucci putting forward a call for bids through the BC Bid program.

The city's documentation with BC Bid notes that there are five bridges of note for the inspection and assessment process, they include:

The 6th Avenue Bridge at Hays Creek
Second Avenue West Bridge at Moresby
George Hills Way at Cameron Cove
2 Civic Centre Bridges

Mr. Pucci's introduction of the Bridge assessment Bids process outlines the details of the structures.

The scope of the work for the successful bid provider will be to provide a complete assessment, analysis and inspection of all four bridges.

Work will also require the Completion of a range of required tests on the structures and complete an analysis and review of the historic and current drawings as well as past reports and inspections.

As well the bid request includes the compilation of all the information into a report and to present a five and ten year rehabilitation plan for all bridges along with repair cost estimates.

The work for the project will not involve the requirement of geotechnical soil stability.

The deadline to reply to the Call for Bids is 2PM on July 14th.

The timeline for the work is to have the Inspection review completed by August 20th, with the Report and recommendations to be delivered to the City by September 20th.
