As Prince Rupert air travellers await August and the shift to daily service out of the Digby Island Airport, across the Northwest those looking to get away are finding a number of new destinations to choose from  as airlines update their travel itineraries.

Air Canada resumed its service to Prince Rupert on June 25th, featuring a somewhat modified schedule than in the past that provided for a few flights during the week as the airline looked to build capacity.

At the time it was announced that the Prince Rupert to Vancouver service would increase to a once a day flight in August.

Further down the highway, the Terrace airport which remained open through the period of COVID, has seen passenger levels continuing to rise and recently saw a new option appear on the flight destination board.

That as Central Mountain Air announced a flight with connection that will take Northwest travellers to Campbell River a service which begins next week.

Central Mountain Air has also added a number of other flights to its network, as it looks to expand its footprint  in the North with service to major communities.

With many on the North Coast having family and friends living on Vancouver Island, a Prince Rupert connection to the Island would more than likely be a popular addition to the Prince Rupert flight schedule,  should the Airport authority manage to entice a second air provider to serve the community sometime in the future.

WestJet which offers service in and out of the Terrace airport has also expanded on its network of flight connections, introducing a number of new routes across British Columbia

Smithers like Prince Rupert has only one option at the moment, with its daily schedule of one flight a day from Air Canada

For those willing to put in a bit of a drive to chase down some bargains, or a wider route selection the Prince Georg airport offers a range of new additions to their listings.

Included as part of the Prince Georg options is service with Flair Airlines, the Canadian Discount airline which offers low cost flights to Vancouver and Edmonton and recently announced plans to introduce flights to a range of popular American destinations

WestJet has also added to their selection out of Prince George, featuring a direct flight from Prince George to Abbotsford to serve the Fraser Valley.

Also returning the skies of the region is Pacific Coastal Airlines which now is serving Haida Gwaii with flights between the YVR South Terminal to Masset. Air Canada provides service to the Islands by way of the Skidegate airport.
