The BC CDC Local Health COVID listings for June 27 to July 3 |
The strong response by resident across the Northwest in recent weeks towards vaccination for COVID-19 has clearly paid off some remarkable dividends, with this week's release of data from the BC CDC showcasing a map of mostly white space and no case counts but for one case recorded in the Nechako region.
The report for the Week of June 27 to July 3, carrying on a trend from recent weeks of the measure of success that Northern Health has found and making for a far cry from some of the worrisome trends of just a few months ago.
The positive themes continue on from the results of the daily dashboard report from the BC CDC which yesterday noted of only 2 new cases in the entire Northern Health region and just 28 active cases listed.

Last week, with the COVID trends all for the most part going in the right direction, the Province of British Columbia brought an end to the information briefings from Doctor Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix.
Briefings which at one time were daily and then scaled back to two or three ties a week were the guidepost through the critical phase of the pandemic, but as we turned a corner in May, the need for constant updates became less urgent.
The daily COVID reports are still delivered through the BC Government website and we continue to list them here, along with an update to the data board for the day on themes of new cases and the vaccination pace in the province.
On that theme of vaccination, as we noted earlier this week, Prince Rupert delivered strong results for Northern Health, with the first vaccination clinic of March making for an 80 percent vaccination rate for the community, the second dose clinic of June marking a 60 percent vaccination rate as it ended, with the opportunity to continue to add to those numbers now available through the the Northern Health Unit.
As part of their information update Northern Health noted that those still looking for their COVID shot can take advantage of a Friday clinic starting tomorrow, with residents reminded to book an appointment to participate in the program.
More notes from Northern Health can be reviewed from our archive pages here.
