After a summer vacation period with more than a few challenges for the government, the call to order from the Speaker of the Legislature will be heard on Monday, as British Columbia's elected representative return for the Fall session.
The return setting the stage for a two month Fall session for Premier Horgan and his cabinet, though two months with one week breaks for each over Thanksgiving and Remembrance Days.
As they return, the governing NDP will no doubt be facing a list of questions and challenges from the Opposition, particularly with COVID back on the rise and concerns over health care services high among the topics that could come up starting Monday.
The provincial response to the WildFire Season just wrapped up, the Fairy Creek blockade on Vancouver Island, twin pipeline projects including recent developments on the Coastal GasLink route, among many others the have even been catalogued since the summer break started, could also factor into the debates to come,.
With the fall session coming only a month after the start of a new school year, another topic sure to be high for the discussion list will be as to how the province has responded to COVID measures in the provincial schools.
For two Liberal MLA's the return to Legislature work will come as they continue on with their campaigns for the Leadership of the BC Liberal Party, with Ellis Ross from Skeena and Kelowna MLA Renee Merrifield a bit of additional exposure that could assist their push towards the leadership race as the fall moves forward.
As for the government agenda, British Columbians will get an idea as to what themes the NDP government plans to tackle over the next eight weeks as the MLA's return to their duties on Monday.
