Organizers of the annual All Native Basketball Tournament, which for the first time in its history wasn't an annual event las year owing to COVID outlined the road to the Championship games for 2022 last week.

In a message posted to their Social Media Feed on Facebook, Tournament organizers announced that for 2022, "The All Native Tournament Committee has decided not to host the 2021 Qualifying Tournament in November. Instead, we are planning to host the February 2022 ANBT with all teams to be invited."

The change in the Tournament plans may make for a few extra days of ball to take in at the Jim Ciccone Civic Centre facility as they work the larger number of teams into the jam packed schedule that comes with the popular event.

Towards teams looking to participate in February of 2022, Peter Haugan is the contact point and can be reached at 250-624-1690 or by email at peterhaugan@yahoo.com

As they look ahead to the event which transforms Prince Rupert into Tournament City, the date etched in for the moment for the launch of the ANBT2022 is February 13th.

As it has been in the past, the event is much more than just a sporting event, but a giant gathering of the Nations and significant cultural celebration for the North Coast.

One of the impressive events from the February gathering is the Opening Ceremony for the Tourmanet which this year will be performed by the Haida Nation on the 13th at 8PM.

You can keep up to date on the latest notes from the ANBT from their Facebook page here.

As well, we will tack any new items of interest towards Tournament time through our archive page here.
